Tuhey Pool: A Community Destination
If you drive by Tuhey Pool on a warm summer afternoon, you’ll see lots of folks splashing, swimming, and relaxing at the pool. But less than ten years ago, due to significant renovation and rehabilitation needs, Tuhey Pool closed after the 2009 season, leaving a large hole in our community. Muncie community members used the Muncie Action Plan’s input sessions during 2009 and 2010 to advocate for reopening Tuhey Pool. This became an immediate priority of MAP.
Tuhey Park is a long-standing pillar in the Muncie community and together with the pool is a much-loved asset. In fact, the original pool and recreational facilities of Tuhey park were constructed in 1934. In 2013, the addition of the Splash Pad added water activities for even our youngest community members.
For the 2018 season, Tuhey Pool is open Monday through Saturday 12-7pm and Sunday 12-6pm.
Admission prices are $5 for Adults, $4 for Teens, and $3 for Children. Admission is half price after 4pm everyday. Punch Cards that provide ten-day admission are available for Adults at $35, Teens at $30, and Children at $25.
Other important information:
- No Coolers and/or outside food and drinks
- No inflatables (water wings, rings, or any pool raft/float)
- Outside chairs may be brought in
Tuhey will host Swim Lessons through Swim America during a June Session and again in July. These lessons teach participants to swim, be safe around water, and have fun.
During inclement weather, you can check the Tuhey Pool Facebook Page (facebook.com/MuncieTuheyPool) for weather closures. Contact information, swim lesson information, and other announcements can also be found on their Facebook Page.
