Task Force Chair
A Lake County native, Roni Johnson migrated to Muncie after receiving both B.S. and M.A. degrees from Ball State University. Following four years of teaching, Roni “retired” to raise her two children, Julianna and David, and during her child-rearing years she was involved in numerous volunteer organizations and charitable projects, with leadership roles that helped pave her way to a rewarding career with the Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County, Inc. She entered the community foundation field in 1986 and served in an executive capacity in Muncie from 1992 to 2013, when she retired from her position as president of the organization.
Roni has served on 8 different Board of Directors, including the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance, Muncie Symphony League, and YMCA. She is also a member of the Central Indiana Estate Planning Council and the Funders Forum of Delaware County. She serves on the board of Cardinal Greenway, the Muncie Action Plan (MAP) and the Delaware County Early Childhood Education B5 Initative.
Among her many other achievements, Roni was a recipient of the 2010 Ball State University Indiana Women of Acheivement Award, the 2011 Al Rent Spirit of Muncie Award and the 2013 Athena Award.
This ongoing My Muncie campaign represents a partnership between the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce and the Muncie Action Plan. The campaign is designed to raise awareness about the extraordinary effort and commendable character of Muncie’s numerous unsung volunteers.
